Music with Beats Lab

Due to covid our online sessions have taken a new form - this block we'll be making our own Woodpecker Podcast! Get ready for funny, chatty sessions, interviewing professional musicians while we create something inspiring that others can tune into during this lockdown. Bring all your questions about music industry jobs to be answered by a range of working musicians. Gain insight into what goes into creating a podcast, choose the music, set the vibes, make connections with other local young people and get advice from accomplished musicians. Be a part of a new Monday podcast crew!

Create unique original music in the styles you love using loops and samples with the relevant Carnival flavours from many cultures (Africa, Caribbean, Latin America and London). Work as a producer with professional musicians and other local young people to achieve a number of polished tracks, using Logic (professional music programming software).

You’ll be encouraged, as a team, to write as well as produce in whatever your preferred musical style is, including Trap, Drill, Hip Hop, Afrobeats, Grime and R&B and record your own vocal/lyrical ideas. Rappers and singers welcome with writing help provided. Not even the sky is your limit!

Be a part of group writing sessions, learn to use production techniques and FX such as autotune and filters, gain opportunities to try out midi instruments and be a part of our (online) carnival sharing events.
