Develop your music talent and your neighbourhood

Youth First has partnered with ArchiBeats to create a unique opportunity for Lewisham’s young talent as part of the Sayes Court Garden Network Project. Combining an amazing music production opportunity with a chance to shape, design and develop their local environment.

We are providing six free music workshops at Richard MacVicar Adventure Playground with two different sets of classes focused on younger children and teens.

Neighbourhood beats

Through each of the six sessions, young people will ‘tour’ their local neighbourhood. They will discover the shared qualities between urban music and urban architecture and learn the basic theories of beat making.

Shaping their environment

While exploring the relationship between music and their built environment, young people in the sessions will be encouraged to take a fresh look at their local neighbourhood and get involved in co-designing new spaces that work for their community, now and in the future.

Young people have their say in a creating a greener Lewisham

These workshops are part of the Sayes Court Garden Network Project. The project is part of the Greening Evelyn vision, which is being developed by National Trust, Lewisham Council, and other community partners, to create Lewisham’s first Garden Ward, a garden network of biodiverse and climate resilient green spaces for everyone to enjoy in the long term.

One of The Sayes Court Garden Network Project focuses on the Sayes Court Estate. Youth First, working with ArchiBeats will put young people are at the forefront of Lewisham's regeneration, ensuring young voices are centre stage in every decision and every voice is heard.

The project is funded by the Mayor of London’s Green and Resilient Spaces fund and Lewisham Council’s Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy fund.
