Youth First wants to use this moment and role, on the back of a service restructure, to implement modernisation of our traditional youth work and to give us the ability to move our practice in new directions to ensure that we are a leader in the sector. We need the role to ensure Youth First impacts more young people in an even more efficient and positive manner.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic individual with experience in delivering and developing innovative and impactful youth work with specific focus on open access, one-two-one and targeted group delivery.
The role is a temporary and part time post working directly to our Operations Director. The main aim of the role is to design a new curriculum, a set of accompanying processes and procedures for our team of frontline staff to put into place and to support the embedding of these within our operations.
The ideal candidate will understand and have evidence of successfully developing and embedding youth work praxis, be knowledgeable about current innovations in the sector and be able to translate this into successful and pragmatic ways to our team of frontline staff and their delivery. This candidate will understand and revel in how this is an amazing opportunity to successfully develop youth work foundations in a real life delivery setting which ultimately will have impact on many young people for years to come.
Youth First was formed from the London Borough of Lewisham’s Youth Service from September 2016 to sustain and grow youth provision for children and young people aged 8-19 (up to 25 with special needs). Our core focus is on delivering exciting activities and programs to young people in the borough of Lewisham; to provide an early intervention service for young people; and support and mentor young people to achieve their full potential.
This is an exciting time for Youth First as we have just entered a new four-year contract and we now have the opportunity to develop a new youth work delivery and curriculum. We are seeking to appoint an experienced open access and targeted youth work practitioner to provide effective and professional administrative support for our targeted face-to-face framework.
The role can be home-based and hours are flexible to meet the needs of the organisation.
- To support the Operations director and their team in developing and implementing a new service curriculum that efficiently and demonstrably delivers impact. This is achieved by making the best use of available resources and clearly lays out the roles and expectations of team members and stakeholders to achieve this.
- To ensure a legacy of a curriculum-based structure and related procedures to support future curricula.
- To develop one-to-one processes and systems and embed these within our day-to-day operations.
