Youth Forums
Youth Forums are regular sessions that give young people the chance to express their ideas, opinions and views to better Youth First. They have the opportunity to meet and discuss their needs with decision makers such as youth workers, our governance board and staff of other organisations.
Local Youth Forum meetings
These happen at each of our youth clubs and adventure playgrounds - monthly or quarterly depending on the site. Sessions are made up of 5-10 local young people who are regular users at the site.
Borough-wide Youth Forum meetings
Borough-wide meetings occur termly (usually during half-terms). They are made up of young people who attend our provision across the Borough (made up of the local Youth Forums). These meetings focus on a topical issue decided by the young people. Recent topics include:
- Social Media
- Knife Crime
- Healthy Relationships
- Fundraising
Youth Forums in 2018
Youth Forums had a busy 2018 - with a big shout out to Dumps Adventure Playground who raised over £900 in the Youth Forum Fundraising Challenge. Our local forums resulted in:
- sites setting up special events
- changes to activities of programmes
- plans for an adventure playground sleep over
- volunteering at our summer fun days
There were a total of five borough-wide Youth Forum meetings (February, April, July, October and December) with a total of 77 young people. Our first ever borough-wide Youth Forum trip in 2018 took us to "Locked in a Room".
